CIP Ways to Engage

Four ways to build
innovation capability.

There are four ways in: Workshops & Sprints, Speaking, Advising & Coaching, and a Fractional CIO. Whichever fits where you are today, every engagement runs on the same Create, Innovate, Perform foundation. The key is to find a quick win, get your team on board, then build on it. Let's find the entry point that fits, and let it grow from there.

What to Expect From Derek

Thinking and doing
differently, on purpose.

My Philosophy

Every business eventually hits the improvement ceiling. I built my career on what happens next: helping leaders and teams find the courage to think and do differently, not just do more of the same, faster.

My Mission

I build the capability inside your team, not dependence on me. When we're done, your people run the process themselves. That's the only measure of success I care about.

The Result

Real innovation capability shows up everywhere: stronger margins, faster processes, a culture that isn't afraid to fail, and customers who stop shopping around.

How I Work With You

I don't hand you a deck and disappear. I work side-by-side with your team, coaching your people to run it without me. Most consultants leave you dependent, but I measure success by how fast you stop needing me.

How to Start

Start small.
Prove it works. Then scale it.

The fastest way in isn't a full program. It's one quick win: a workshop or sprint that proves the model on a real challenge, with the value felt all the way up to leadership.

Once a couple of those land and the team's bought in, the conversation changes from convincing people innovation works, to embedding it into the business's DNA.

Long-Term Plan

Once trust is on the board, embed innovation into the business's DNA: the roadmap, the cadence, the culture.

Ways to Engage

How We Team Up.

Four tracks, matched to how deep you want to go: hands-on Workshops & Sprints, a Speaking engagement to align leadership, ongoing Advising & Coaching, or an embedded Fractional CIO. Pick the tab below that fits.

Workshops & Sprints

Half day to multi-day · High energy · Immersive experience

A workshop or sprint is a facilitated session built around a challenge your team is already facing, not a hypothetical case study. Each one runs half a day to several days, and every one ends with synthesized output and an action plan your team can act on.

Your team doesn't just sit and listen. They get their hands dirty in a highly immersive and experiential environment. And that's what makes it stick.

Example Sprints and Workshops

Uncover what customers truly need, want, and desire, not what the business assumes. This is the starting point for all innovation.

A high-velocity session using the Creative Diamond, our diverge-then-converge process for turning a wide field of ideas into one committed solution, leveraging AI as needed to accelerate analysis and widen perspective.

An accelerated session that identifies and develops solutions for internal waste, cost, and process problems, with ROI as a direct result.

Reimagine and rebuild any process quickly, realizing gains in efficiency, speed, and throughput.
